Yoga for YOUth

Yoga for YOUth is a community based program focused on reading literacy through restorative yoga. It is through the 7 dimensions of wellness and the 8 limb path that yoga is used to create space through breath, movement and body autonomy. The goals of Yoga for YOUth programming is to promote reading and literacy, create an understanding of cultural expansion to enhance one's own humanity, and to encourage total wellness. The overall goal of Yoga for YOUth is to honor mindfulness and social and emotional regulation so that each child can flourish being their most authentic self in every space.

About Programming

Reading Literacy

Each session is uniquely designed to honor the literary needs of our youth. Not only is this space created to explore the dimensions of creativity and humanity through play but uplifts and engages expressive reading, emotional and social regulation as well as promotes overall learning and community building. Our youth are encouraged to ‘read to learn’ opposed to ‘learning to read” through the act storytelling.

Cultural Expansion

Our activities are designed to keep youth engaged through cultural expansion, whether it’s learning how to create a masterpiece of art or allowing for creative expression to flow through movement and storytelling.

Mindfulness

Yoga for Youth allows for children to explore what makes them them. Creating a safe space to dream, play and share our joy allows for youth to gain an awareness in which they will deepen their understanding of the world around them as it pertains to the global aspects of empathy and how we show up in the world in relationship to joy and navigating the systems of oppression.
